My name is Fiona, and this is my “Craving”.
Food has always been a big part of my life, and a big part of my family. Most of our time is spent either in the kitchen or by the grill. If we have a bottle of wine and a clove of garlic, we can make something spectacular out of nothing. It never fails!
But one of my favorite things about cooking is feeding a little morsel of this or sharing a sip of that with my lover. Seeing him close his eyes and make that “mmmm” sound always gives me a thrill.
Food and sex go well together. Think about it! Or if you’re a visual learner like me, just flip through a recipe book. You’ll find recipes asking you to do things like peel, warm, rub, roll, wet, dry, steam, coat, whip, heat, cool, bring to a boil. Cooking is sensual, like lovemaking. It’s a hands-on activity that engages all of your senses: sight, smell, taste, sound, and touch.
Then of course, there are aphrodisiacs. Named for the Greek goddess of sexuality and love, Aphrodite herself, these foods are believed to increase sexual desire. You might have heard of these aprhodisiacs: dark chocolate, raw oysters, strawberries. There are also a great many you have not heard of, such as artichokes, celery, and even deer penis!
Whether these foods are aphrodisiacs because of legend, a resemblance to male or female productive organs, chemical properties, or physical properties, feeding each other is a sensual act that deepens your romantic connection with your partner.
“Craving” will take a closer look at several aphrodisiacs; explore their parts, how they can affect lovers, and how they can be incorporated into easy, mouth-watering recipes.
