Liberator Writing Program

Thanks for your interest in contributing to the Liberator Ooh Ezine!

Hopefully by now, you are familiar with our ezine and its features.  We are currently seeking contributions from talented writers and sex bloggers.

Categories and Guidelines:

Sex Stories – These are non-fiction sex stories about a specific time or experience, or written from a distinct perspective. Examples:  “Sex Story by a Bisexual Female”, “Sex Story by a Redhead”, “Sex Story on the Beach”, etc.  These stories often have an element of sex advice to them, but it is not necessary.  You can submit as many as you like, as long as they are all from a different perspective or about a new topic.  Sex Stories should be around 500 words.

Sexessories – This section contains product reviews and articles on products such as how to’s, tips and techniques. Basically, any article that has to do with a sex toy or adult product (carried by Liberator) can be featured here.  You may write reviews for products you already own or for new purchases.  These articles should be 500 to 1000 words.  Liberator prefers to publish reviews of products you liked instead of disliked, so overwhelmingly negative reviews will not be considered for publication.  (Note:  Our product review program functions outside of the Liberator Ooh Writing Program.  Product reviewers may not receive free products to review and gift card payment for the same product review; it must be one or the other.  For more information on the product review program, click here.)

Erotic Fiction – We are looking for talented authors to send us their erotic short stories and poems.  These stories can be sensual, erotic, or explicit, but may not be overly pornographic.  These submissions should be a minimum of 300 words and up to 1000 words.

Buzz – These are current events articles related to the adult industry.  It can be porn star news, new product announcements, event news, or a general commentary on sex culture, etc.  These submissions should be a minimum of 300 words and up to 1000 words.

Columnist Option – Got an idea for a new feature or sex advice column?  Send your idea to cassandra@liberator.com along with your bio, column synopsis, and an example post.  You could earn your own platform on Liberator Ooh!

Do you have a piece you’d like to submit that does not fall under any of these categories?  Email the editor at cassandra@liberator.com and she’ll let you know if your material can be published.

Requirements:

• Send your well-written piece in an attached Word document
• Include any pictures you would like to use in your submission
• Indicate your preferred author name for your posts—anonymous posts will not qualify for compensation
• Optional:  Submit up to one banner link for your personal blog site to be displayed at the bottom of your posts
• Material must be original and previously unpublished.  You may not submit the material to other publications unless you have already received a rejection email for your piece.
• Word count should match category guidelines
• Each submission must begin with this header:
  • Article Title
  • Author Name
  • Category (Buzz, Sexessories, Sex Story, Erotic Fiction, etc.)

Submissions:  Contributors can expect to hear from us (whether the work is accepted or rejected) within 30 days after we’ve received the submission. If you are new to writing for Liberator, you may submit a maximum of 2 different pieces for approval.  Submissions will be approved or rejected based on originality, clarity, and grammatical correctness.  (Submitting your articles gives Liberator editors the right to make grammatical corrections, but they will never change the voice of your piece.)

Compensation:  If we accept your submission, you will begin to accrue value towards a Liberator Gift Card.  All articles are paid at a rate of $.02 per word, and each article will be compensated for up to 1000 words.  You may go over 1000 words, but you will not be compensated for the overage.

Images:  Stock images will be selected to accompany your written piece.  You acknowledge that you will not get to choose the image that is associated with your piece.  If, however, you would like to submit a specific image to go along with your piece, you are encouraged to do so.  Please make sure that you have full rights to use the image, or that you have gotten permission from the original artist.  Images will be compensated an additional $2 in gift card money, and no more than one image will be compensated per article, although you may include more.  Creative commons and free stock photos will not be compensated.

Email Newsletter:  Occasionally, submissions will be selected to appear in the Club Liberator email newsletter.  Submissions chosen for publication in the newsletter will be compensated an additional $10.  This does not include when the post is hyperlinked to Liberator Ooh, but rather a full or partial posting of the actual submission content in the email newsletter.

Payment Schedule: Gift cards will be sent out once a month in $25 increments.  Each gift card pay period starts on the 1^st day of the month and ends on the last day of the month.  The writer must earn a minimum of $25 to receive payment.  If that amount is not accrued, it will roll over for a maximum of three months.  If after three months the writer has not contributed any new material to add to their balance, and they have not earned the minimum amount of $25 for payment, the balance will be brought back down to zero.

Writers may earn up to $100 a month in Liberator gift cards.  Any amount over $25 but under the next $25 increment (50/75/100) will roll over.  Any amount earned over $100 will not roll over.  For example:

If you wrote one 700 word article, one 500 word article, and one 1000 word article in one month, you would have earned $44 (700+500+1000=2200 x $.02).  You would receive one $25 gift card for the month, and the other $19 would roll over to the next month.
