Gayla Partridge is the creative mastermind behind 666 Photography. Her stunning imagery is innovative and has an impeccable vintage/retro style designed to tantalize and ignite the imagination. Along with her team of stylists, she creates old school theatre style sets which helps bring her clients’ dreams to life. Every prop is handmade, and backdrops hand-painted. 666 prides themselves in declaring, “There is no concept that you can throw at 666 that we can’t create.”
Partridge’s love for retro/vintage photography all began at the early age. Her parents were antique collectors, which exposed her to a variety of auction houses and galleries. Her first official piece, a 1920’s armoire, was purchased with her babysitting money. She’s been collecting ever since that time.
The concepts of each photograph is a collaborative effort. 666 photography works closely with the client on specific ideas, but the overall execution comes from Partridge herself. Not much for taking orders, she works best when left on her own. When developing a high concept piece, she will generally eat, sleep, and dream until all of the elements and logistics are worked out. After that, she takes the steps to build or paint the set. The icing on the cake, is when her makeup artist, Lisa Naeyaert, comes in the complete to look.
For those that can’t make it to her Austin, Texas studio, her book, 666 Photography: Of Virgin Queens and High Camp Divas is now available. Filled with 176 full-color images, it will make for a great holiday gift to yourself. Click here for more information on 666 Photography.0
