It’s nearly summer. Why not turn the heat up early with gorgeous imagery from New York-based photographer Bruno Dayan. Feel the temperature rise while feasting your eyes on frisky, naked women in all kinds of simmering scenarios. We’ve gotta warn you, though, most of the photographs are NSFW. So, if you’re caught looking simply remind the boss you’re crazy from the heat.
Bruno Dayan Early Inspirations
Some of you may recognize the work of Bruno Dayan from magazines like Vanity Fair, Vogue and V. What make his work so compelling is his back story. Like most young red-blooded American boys, he had an attraction to provocative comic books even before he could read. (If they find it, they’ll play with it.) Translating each of the images, Dayan would spin his own adventurous stories. This early influence of seeing semi-erotic images now has a strong influence on his current work. His photography is a reflection of the wonderment, fear, and anxiety he must have experienced while growing up.
Bruno Dayan Gets an Education
While studying both Fine Arts and Cinema in Montreal, Bruno Dayan attended classes on art history and film during the day. At night, he spent hours in the Cinemathèque editing room watching films by Orson Welles and Stan Brakhage. Bruno Dayan mentally cataloged each of his favorite scenes which he is now using for referential inspiration. When asked what he loves about his job, Dayan responded, “I love working on aesthetically beautiful photos. My work is just the by-product of daydreaming.”
A Distinctive Style
Categorizing Bruno Dayan as just another highly-paid fashion photographer is not fair. The cliched hallmarks of high-fashion advertising make him a favorite among luxury brands like Louis Vuitton and Dior. But bubbling beneath the surface, one can clearly see a multi-layered erotic fairy tale emerging. Bruno Dayan masterfully mixes gratuitous glamor with an ethereal simplicity. The intricate layers of cinematic lighting along with creative set design moves Bruno Dayan away from the typical fashion stylings and places him the realm of fine art photography.
