You may have seen your fair share of shows like Cake Boss, but nothing is like the artistic sploshing series created by Bompas & Parr. Their project, Cake Hole introduces us to the wet and messy world of cake and jelly sitting. Yes, this world really does exist! Let’s take a tour and see the how the erotic culinary architects, Bompas & Parr play with their food.
Bompas & Parr
The real-life Willy Wonka’s of London’s art love intersecting food with sex. Bompas & Parr first developed the idea of being“culinographers” (that’s culinary + pornography) in 2007. One of their first successful projects was an immersive, multi-sensory mash-up called “Anti-Gin,” where viewers could breathe in cocktail vapors and enjoy the newly crafted world of Jelly Molds.
Taking the Cake
Getting models for the Cake Hole series was difficult at first. The original collaborators were a bit squeamish when it came time to start sitting on cakes. That’s when the duo put out a call on Instagram. They were surprised by the response from people who said they would love spending their time squishing cakes and wobbly jellies between their butt cheeks.
Hot Crossed Buns
Delving deeper into the messy world of cake sitting, Bompas & Parr invited all types of English bums. The cool thing about the project, however; is the participants chose their edible cake cushion. Some went for the cream-filled tarts to the black forest cake to the cool jelly.
